Grove Hill Loop

I went up and into Grove Hill and back around via Ogletree and Wright's Mill. It's a nice cool Fall day, so I wore a long sleeve T.  Probably could've gotten away with short sleeves.

Marie Wooten 5K

I ran the Marie Wooten 5K this morning. It was a new course for me, starting and ending at the Beard-Eaves Coliseum on campus. I saw lots of familiar faces from the Dept of Biological Sciences.

Playlist
Baba-Ye -Mahlathini
The Way You Move -Outkast
El Microfono -Mexican Institute of Sound
Blanket of Weeds -Meat Puppets
Lust for Life -Iggy Pop
Heroes -David Bowie

Time (unofficial) 27:00
Distance 3.1 miles
Cumulative distance 7.7 miles

Not exactly a great time, but considering the amount of training I've been doing (not very much) and the temperature (rather warm) and the course (a good bit of up and down), well, that explains it. I'm not making excuses, I'm a bit old for that kind of baloney, but just considering the contributing factors.

Merry Month of May

Been off again, but I expect an uptick in activity as my classes took their final exam today. I knew I had to get out at least once before this weekend's 5k. It's a bit cooler than one might have expected, but that just made it a beautiful day for an afternoon run. Up to Samford/Gay back along College. First time in a long while. I've been trying for days to find Speakerboxxx on my hard drives, then trying to find the CD. W00t! Found it! Bowtie!

Another New Route

First day without spandex in a while. It was nice out, but I like how the spandex keeps my downtown region nicely secured, if you catch my TMI. Another new route, this time up Wright's Mill Rd. toward downtown, through AU campus again, and back via the Arboretum, Art Museum, Woodfield, and Gay Street

Sonoma run

So I've been battling a little cold (mostly a cough) for a few days, since we arrived in California for the holidays. I wanted to get out for a run but didn't want to exhaust myself and turn a small cold into a big one. Yesterday, though, I felt up to the task. I like to run in Sonoma Valley Regional Park, but I would drive there and I was blocked in. So I decided to go out on the mean streets of Glen Ellen, where people drive like maniacs on curvy narrow roads. It turned out all right, and I got a good, almost hour-long run in. I clocked it at about 2.8 miles on the odometer.

Inspired and all over the place

I decided to do something I haven't really done since I was in South Africa; run in broad daylight. It's been unseasonably cold the last couple of days, but today it warmed back up. I was working from home, and I just felt the need to get out. I wasn't exactly planning on going so far, but then I did. I headed out towards the State Park, then down the bike path. I think it was a new long, at least since South Africa. The musical theme was inspirational and springy, from all over the place.

Playlist

Moonage Daydream -David Bowie
Nappy Dugout -Funkadelic
Tougher Than It Is -Cake
Zombie -Fela. I love Fela, but I rarely listen to him while running because it can be uninspiring to be listening to the same song for 15:00, and realize that I have to keep running that whole time. But today, I knew I'd be at gone for at least another Fela song.

The W.A.N.D. -The Flaming Lips

Nasty creature, the sloth...

The last blog entry did shame me into going out and jogging again, but since then I've only been out twice. I think if it weren't for the blog, I might have quit by now.
Last night I went out for a single loop, which was only the second time this week. I'm going for three times a week, ideally every other day. So if I go again tomorrow I'll be back on track.
Let's see, what did I listen to? It was pretty random, if I recall. I wanted to have an all Outkast playlist, but the tune-o-matic is Outkast poor.

Marie Jose -Ryco Jazz
I'm A Mindless Idiot -Meat Puppets
Mess Around -Professor Longhair
Bowtie -Outkast

Don't think I can remember the rest right now. I'll try and get out tomorrow morning. For real...
And I did get more salad fixin's
I ran for 36:42
